- The Saudi Arabian government has backed out of a deal that would have provided significant relief to America's premier opera company – the Metropolitan Opera - as it struggles to recover from the most acute financial crisis in its history. Peter Gelb, the Met's general manager, said the Saudis cited damage to the country's economy caused by the war in Iran and the blockading of oil passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Under the arrangement, announced in September, the Saudis were to have provided the Metropolitan Opera with as much as $200 million over the next eight years - a major boon for the Metropolitan Opera trying to recover from a loss of revenue and audience during the Covid pandemic.
- The $4.7billion contract awarded in January 2024 to WeBuild for the construction of a 2.8km artificial lake at Trojena in northwest Saudi Arabia – a mega project within the wider gigaproject called Neom - has been cancelled - after 30% of the work has been completed.
WeBuild posted a statement on 25 March confirming that developer Neom had terminated the contract:
...regarding the construction in Trojena of a system of three damsdesigned to feed a freshwater lake, as well as the architectural structure 'The Bow'.

This could be an opportune time for Trump to repeat his call to Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords - which could materially advance the end of both the US-Israel- Iran War and 130 years of unresolved conflict between Arabs and Jews.
Time for Trump to start dictating and end negotiating.
