About On Line Opinion

On Line Opinion is a not-for-profit e-journal that aims to provide a forum for public social and political debate about current Australian issues. We publish articles to stimulate a public discourse on a range of topics. It is not the editors’ intention to dominate these pages – these articles are gathered from a variety of independent sources and are published in the belief that ideas are the essence of progress and that issues and opinions should be addressed, not suppressed. We welcome any rational contribution to what has become a robust public debate not available in any other media or forum.

On Line Opinion is edited by Graham Young. We also have an Editorial Advisory Board to advise on issues. Day-to-day publishing decisions are taken via a collaborative editing panel of people from all around the country.

On Line Opinion is owned by the Australian Institute for Progress, having recently changed its name from The National Forum, a public company limited by guarantee. You can download the Executive Director's report to the 2010 AGM here (PDF, 109KB).

Interested parties can become involved in On Line Opinion by posting a message in our Forum, writing a letter to the editor, subscribing to our email newsletter or sending a suggestion or submission. Our conditions for accepting and publishing submissions can be downloaded from here. All submissions or contributions can be sent by email.

Our postal address is:

PO Box 1365, Fortitude Valley, Qld 4006  Australia.

We hope this site will be a useful resource to all people with an interest in Australian public affairs. Thanks for your interest - we welcome your involvement.
