An urgent need to totally review bushfire preparedness in SE Australia
In answer to the question, SE Australia is not adequately prepared for bushfires. The 2019/ 20 bushfires were huge and a warning to us, this warning wasn't adequately listened to, especially in relation to mitigation adequacy and suppression concerns.
There are annual Australian bushfire preparedness summits, conferences, workshops and webinars and many other fire activities, but nowhere does the author see broad government or agency assessments of bushfire preparedness across Australia, states, regions, local government areas nor for towns and cities and which are available to the public. And often, the discussions underway at these activities don't get to all the key bushfire prepared concerns and some cases few if any of them, putting lives, communities, firefighters, ecosystems and budgets at risk.
The author is of the opinion that there is inadequate bushfire preparedness across SE Australia for many of the bushfire preparedness concerns for the 2025/ 26 bushfire season and ongoing fire seasons, an accountability issue that needs to be seriously addressed and tackled.

There are large opportunities for governments at all levels, government agencies and communities to address the bushfire preparedness concerns identified in this review, in the public interest, community interest, national interest and in the interests of fire fighter and community safety.ch
