Brave new post-identity world of no more excuses

Moreover, Labor will "develop a structural and institutional response to the cost of the damage that prejudice … (wreaks) on productivity" and "will quantify the importance of participation and protection for equal opportunity on all attributes, LGBTI status expressly included".

Look for more bulldust from "big accounting" firms, such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, which produced such creative estimates of the cost of the same-sex marriage plebiscite.

And it will come as no surprise that Labor "will continue to support national programs to address homophobia, biphobia, transphobia and intersexphobia in schools. This includes ensuring gender-diverse students are able to express the gender they identify with including through preferred name and dress."

In a post-identity world, the byword will be dignity. The gay Mardi Gras will be no more. People of identity will get on with life and all of its joys and disappointments. If only regressive politicians would let them.
