The blue pill?

By Junaid Cheema - posted Tuesday, 10 September 2013

As Galloway said to the British parliament, the question is not whether Bashar Al-Assad is "bad"enough to use sarin gas the question is whether he is 'mad'enough. So put Bashar on one side of the Libra scale and put his liver cannibalizing opponents on the other and ask –who is the madder of the lot? Who would benefit from a US led invasion –the inevitable consequence of this Manchurian Incident.

Sounds like a conspiracy? Well cough up the blue pill. The leaders of Al Qaeda were born in the womb of US's closet ally nurtured and fed. The SLIF (Al Qaeda Incarnates) target any Muslim deviating from their interpretation let alone any non-Muslim. Remember Sakkar's war cry? Now ask yourself why the leaders of free world would support the likes of him?

So what about the media noise? The same media who fed you Iraq's weapons of mass destruction through mass deception with supreme confidence and then absolved any responsibility when none were found! All this whilst an entire generation was destroyed and countless suffered and still suffer to this very day. Do you hear their voices or do you just hear the media noise? So what about the media noise? No tell me…do you still believe in the blue pill?

Now we don't need to travel further down the rabbit hole to understand the militant psychology; which is often self-righteously dismissed as a defect in the Islamic DNA. War is the world's oldest industry and warlords the oldest professionals. War provides the warlord types with the perfect opportunity for Money, Power and Influence irresistible baits for Narcissists, Sociopaths and Machiavellians (the dark triad of leadership). They have no problem in manipulating religion or people for their purposes whilst the sincere suffer.

Herds of countless sheep, shepherd by the Devil in sheep's clothing snarling at the stupidity, whilst he counts the coins collected from the slaughter - gloating at this trickery carried out in the name of the holy –are your still listening Neo?

Now history has proved how unsuccessful the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive strike was and how un-sage the advice of Huntington and Bernard Lewis that helped inform it. Nonetheless our appetites become insatiable when other people sit on black gold that we see as ours - as in the case of Iraq, or sit on minerals worth trillions of dollars - as in the case of Afghanistan, or simply are a strategic inconvenience harboring black gold - as in the case of Syria. It is then Lewis's and Huntington's advice becomes sage once again. However we make sure that we choose our 'Avatar'carefully before striking –sometimes we call it freedom, other times we call it justice or security but mostly we call it liberation; which in reality is only liberation of our pockets by the blood of the innocent.

So what is the 'other'strategic value of liberating Syria? This 'particular' leap down the rabbit-hole is a journey that cannot be accommodated in this article, so look at that regions map and take the leap yourself... if your nerves permit. This is your choice alone, I have already made mine.

Last week I attended a Syrian anti-war protest in front of the state library on a beautiful sunny day. Sitting on the grass I saw my children play and laugh whilst I sat watching. I wish I wore sun glasses that day; not because the sun was too bright but because my eyes became too wet! Yes I could almost hear the screams of Syrian fathers losing their children as mine played in peace! No! I am not Syrian but I am human! Know stepping down from the throne of self-righteousness is terribly uncomfortable and empathy is not an argument which travels far now days –but also know this….

Know that we live in a world based on credit and this is a blood debt, which will have to be re-paid with interest! When the tomahawks fly, desecrating ancient Syrian lands, this war will expand and oil prices will sky rocket from the mayhem, the luxuries we hold so dear will slip from hands and then we will hear the knocks. They will come knocking on our doors not in handful but in the hordes! We will then know, we could have spoken up but we didn't. We could have exercised our democratic right but we didn't, we could have used our freedoms but we didn't and now we have to pay the price and pay it with interest because our elected leaders were involved. So I hope, you can hear the ghost of Goethe calling, as I do with the haunting echo "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free!!!!"
