Winton Bates

Winton Bates is an independent researcher and writer on issues related to well-being and liberty. He is the author of Free to Flourish, published as a Kindle eBook in December 2012, and owner of the blog, Freedom and Flourishing.

Prior to his retirement from full-time work in 2006, Winton was a consultant on issues relating to economic development in Australia and New Zealand. He worked as an advisor in the New Zealand Treasury from 1993 to 1995.

Winton spent most of his work career in Canberra, where he held senior economic research and management positions at the IAC and Industry Commission - predecessor organizations of the Productivity Commission.

Winton and his wife now live at Vincentia in New South Wales.
