Anthony Bergin

Anthony Bergin is the Deputy Director of ASPI. He is responsible for the Institute's Parliamentary, industry, business and corporate engagement programs. Prior to joining ASPI, Dr Bergin was most recently Associate Professor of Politics, University of New South Wales at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) in Canberra. From 1981-1985 he taught political science at the Royal Australian Naval College. From 1991-2003 he was the Director of the Australian Defence Studies Centre (ADSC). He is the author and editor of a number of important works including Future Unknown: the terrorist threat to Australian maritime security (ASPI, 2005), Naval Power in the Pacific (Westview, 1993), and The Pacific Patrol Boat Project: a Case Study in Defence Cooperation (ANU, 1994). He has written extensively on a wide range of national security and ocean policy issues.
