Broadcaster bogans

By Ian Nance - posted Monday, 11 September 2017

Now we've got over this class divisiveness in modern broadcasting media where a "toffee" accent is no longer obligatory - rather there is a wider acceptance of well enounced speech with no affectation.

Yet we seem to have swung to the negative extreme, where sports bogans dominate the airwaves with their boorish speech manner, behaving in a totally conformist way to their perception of what a sports broadcaster should sound like….not too far removed from the belief that all pirates should say "Ee, aar, matey".

Some accuse me of being a pedant. If that is the case, I take joy in being marked as one who not only knows the rules of the game, but plays by them as well!

Now I'm off to the TV to watch female Australian tennis great, Banger Slamitova, win soundly once more.
